Our «Vuelapluma» school tour brings together 11,500 boys and girls in Galicia
Our school tour through Galicia, promoted by Afundación, has taken the story of Robin to seven cities and reminds us that puppet theatre continues to fly straight to the heart of childhood.
This spring we had a very special experience with Vuelapluma. A total of 11,500 children from Galicia joined Robin in his quest for freedom on a school tour that took us through Ourense, Ferrol, Vigo, Pontevedra, Lugo, Santiago de Compostela, and A Coruña, thanks to the support of Afundación.
Each performance was a new opportunity to share with school audiences the story of our little bird who lives in a cage where nothing is lacking, but where everything is too quiet, too predictable, and, above all, very boring. Robin dreams of flying, of discovering what lies beyond, of finding friends and having adventures. And when the door finally opens, a journey full of discoveries begins, leading him to a strange island inhabited by paper birds.
With this play, we continue to champion children’s theater that moves audiences, encourages reflection, and addresses universal themes such as freedom, curiosity, and the need to find our own place in the world.
The tour began on April 27th and 28th in Ourense, continued in Ferrol on the 29th and 30th, then in Vigo on May 4th, 5th, 7th, and 8th, Pontevedra from the 7th to the 10th, Lugo on the 11th and 12th, Santiago on May 13th, and concluded in A Coruña on May 14th and 15th.
Vuelapluma, written and directed by Juan Manuel Quiñonero and starring Ana Morcillo Lara, Alba de los Ángeles, and Mariso García, received the TITIRIJAI Award for Best Show at the Tolosa International Puppet Festival in 2015, an accolade that continues to accompany this beloved story on its journey.
At Periferia Teatro, we continue our passion for children’s puppet theater, exploring new ways of telling stories and championing an art form that is more vibrant than ever, with deep gratitude for being able to share shows like Vuelapluma with thousands of schoolchildren. Furthermore, the Faro de Vigo newspaper reported on our arrival in Pontevedra, highlighting how the puppets «break down barriers» to speak of freedom and discovery through Robin’s perspective.
